Well I'm already in for the wireless FF and motors.
I'm sorry that we all keep going on about C-Motion but it makes it easiest to describe what we mean by unfortunately referencing the establishment...
The function that I though would be the coolest is how the software takes the live informaiton from the lens (which doesn't actually need cooke /i tech if you're using a three motor setup and calibrate the lens, with the software knowing what lens it is...
Becuase then it knows what position the three scales on the lens are at any moment in time. It can take that information in conjunction with the information from the distance sensor and express, on it's LCD display:
1. what distance you're currently focused on
2. what depth of field you have either side of that "sweet spot"... which would change if you were doing an iris slide for instance... you'd see it expanding and contracting as the depth of field changes...
3. What distance your "distance sensor" is looking at...
So that your 1st assistant camera operator can have a cool visual representation of whether or not the thing (in the rangefinder's crosshairs) is actually in focus:
I think this is a particularly useful feature for your product because the Red revolution and the Viewfactor accessories are bringing such a high level of image acquisition to many people who may not have the experience to get the most out of it...
Myself, for instance... I don't know anyone with enough 1st AC experience to judge a focus pull by acumen alone... and since focusing in 4K is likely to be so difficult to get right on...an advanced tool like this could make all the difference!

PS, I love that it's small... as long as it's good quality and good performance...
Means that we could leave it mounted on for hand held stuff more easily.

We will most likely concentrate on getting the ultrasonic sensor squared away when we start ramping up on the Impero Pro.... it will have support for showing all the data you mentioned. We have a couple tricks up our sleeve that are going to change things in the focus pulling arena.

you asked if integration with the Birger mount is of interest.

YES

Happy to read about this... And definitely something I would be interested in BUT. It lacks a few things, so let me give you a few tidbids... Since you already go through the trouble of making a ultrasonic measuring system, why not make it automated. (or atleast make an auto focus option built in)
Here is what I have in mind:
System consists of a unit on the camera hooked up to the motorized follow focus which sends and recieves ultrasonic pulses.
The second part of the system are small tiny "pins" which listen for the pulsed sent from the camera and then send pulses back as confirmation, which function as focus points.
The pins should be small and plenty. So that you can attach any number of them, on any number of objects or talents.
The unit on the camera should be able to distinct between all the pins. Press "Focus Point A" "Focus Point B" "Focus Point C" "ect. ect." buttons should be added to the controller. And a dial knob for how fast or slow you want the focus shift to take place. Infact you can use the Impero as a baseline for how the controller could be. The buttons for focus point selection, and the wheel for dialing the speed.
Welcome to the revolution in auto focusing
